Description
Loving kindness meditation for teens helps promote kindness, compassion and relaxation!
The teen years are filled with emotional rollercoasters, self-discovery, greater independence, friendships and sleep! It is the time in a young person’s life when they are defining who they will be going forward into adulthood. As parents, we obviously want our teens to be kind and compassionate toward others.
Kindness is defined as the ability to be considerate of others, generous with your words and actions, and friendly. These qualities given freely to others have the effect of strengthening relationships and lifting others up. Compassion is about demonstrating concern and care for others. Both of these human qualities are free and certain traits we would like to see more of in our world! Leo Buscaglia says:
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
This loving kindness meditation is also a visualisation meditation. Combining visualisation with meditation can be a powerful technique for teens to master. So how does one master a visualisation meditation? Follow these easy steps and you’ll be well on your way!
- Prior to starting, have an idea of what you would like to visualise throughout your meditation – this one is about kindness but you could focus on anything, such as achieving great academic marks, winning a swim race you’ve been training hard for, anything – the choice is up to you!
- Get into a position of comfort and clear your mind while focusing on the breath,
- Generate the image or idea in your mind and focus on that,
- With each inhale, feel your body expand with potential, and exhale your positive thought or mantra into your world.
This loving kindness meditation is a gentle and mindful experience for a teen to feel kindness, compassion, and relaxation! It is a guided mindful meditation and a visualisation meditation. Teens can tap into this meditation at any time throughout their day and they can use it to relax into a deep sleep. There are also other sleep meditations for teens in our shop. Suitable for 12 years and above.
Enjoy!
