Description

Children’s meditation music for sleep can support your little one relax into their bed and fall into a deep, refreshing sleep. A gorgeous sleep meditation suitable for 3yrs+ but by all means give it a try on the younger ones. The music is so gorgeous and restful, it may also be a winning toddler sleep meditation that sends them off to sleep!

Preparing little ones for sleep is super important. Creating a sleep routine so that young children know what to expect each and every night, creates a sense of predictability and security. Also referred to as sleep hygiene, helping children sleep better should consist of the following:

  • Set up a positive bedtime routine
    • Keeping bedtime at the same time each night helps encourage good sleep patterns.
    • An example routine for younger children could include a warm bath, storytime, and then bed, whilst an older child might enjoy reading a book, talking to you about their day, and then unwinding in their room alone before lights out.
  • Relax before bedtime
    • At least an hour before bed you should encourage your child to relax. This would include no screentime of any sort as this can stimulate the brain rather than helping it to relax.
    • Examples of relaxing activities to do before bed could include reading a book, listening to music or guided meditation or practicing some deep breathing. Encourage your child to relax before bedtime.
  • Keep regular sleep and wake times
    • Keeping close to the same sleeping and waking times helps keep your child’s body clock in a regular pattern.
  • Keep older children’s naps early and short
    • If daytime naps are still part of your older child’s routine, ensure they are not too late in the afternoon, as they will impact your child’s ability to fall asleep at night.
  • Make sure your child feels safe at night
    • A young child will not fall asleep if they feel scared or unsafe. Make sure they have their sleep toy or favourite blanket, perhaps a night light, and reward them for staying in bed at night.
  • Check noise and light in your child’s bedroom
    • If your child’s room is too light or noisy, they will find falling asleep difficult. A quiet, dimly lit space is important for good sleep and signals melatonin to be released which is what helps us go to sleep each night.
  • Get plenty of natural light in the day
    • Encouraging as much natural light as possible during the day, in addition to fresh air and exercise, all help increase wakefulness during the day.

You will find that by practising good sleep hygiene, your child will begin to feel more secure in their bedtime routines and more likely to wind down when given the signals to do so. Many young children want the added security of a parent or carer staying with them while they drift off to sleep. This is completely normal and to be expected, but if you can establish good sleep hygiene and a routine like the one above recommended by the Raising Children Network Australia that includes a gentle sleep meditation, you will find that in time, your little one is happy to fall asleep whilst being guided on their meditation.

Star light sleep tight meditation is a lovely children’s meditation music for sleep. Sleep tight babies gently guides your little one into a deep slumber. It encourages them to shake out the last of their wiggles whilst getting warm and snuggly in their bed. The meditation talks about the importance of letting their little body rest after a busy day playing. It asks them to hold onto their sleep toy, so creating that special bond with a familiar object that soothes them.

This one has been tried and tested and given the tick of approval so I am pleased to add this to our sleep selection.

Enjoy!

I have a nearly seven year old who has just started meditation and thoroughly enjoys yours! I am also extremely thankful because using your meditations, she has, for the first time in her life been going to sleep by 7:30/8 instead of fighting it and me until 10 or 11! I can not begin to thank you enough!!!!
