Mindful families are better equipped to deal with the chaos of modern life! True fact!

The family who meditates together stays together. We’ve all heard this saying +/- “meditates” many, many times! What it’s communicating to us is that whatever you choose to do, if you do it as a family, your family unit is strengthened immeasurably.

Meditation is no exception. Mindful families who teach their young children to meditate equip them with a skill they will have forever. Knowing how to meditate or be mindful helps children regulate their emotions and attend to only what is important, rather than becoming distracted by all the noise of modern life.

Integrating meditation into your family’s daily life needs not be as hard as it seems! In order for children to participate in something – especially an activity their parents would like them to do – it’s important to get them interested. For little ones, this is easier than teenagers, but whatever aged children you have at home, if you start modeling the positivity of meditation, your kids will soon jump in and join you! Remember “monkey see, monkey do”!

Once a curiosity for meditation has been awakened in your family you need to transition this into sustained practice. In other words, make your meditation a habit, even if initially it is only a couple of days a week.

Finally integrate meditation into your family’s daily rituals. This will take persistence and effort, but rest assured it will be worth it! Give older children responsibility by leading a couple of family meditations each week. Let younger ones choose the position or even activity, the family meditates in/to.
